CMC Application Case in Fishery Aquaculture
A large‑scale local shrimp farming enterprise adopted feed‑grade CMC (Sodium Carboxymethyl Cellulose) as a pellet binder for its intensive vannamei shrimp feed formula.
Before the upgrade, feed pellets disintegrated quickly underwater, causing nutrient leaching, water pollution and low feed conversion ratio. By adding 1.5%‑2.5% high‑viscosity CMC, the water stability of feed pellets was greatly improved. CMC forms a protective colloidal layer, slowing down nutrient loss in water.
Field trial results: less feed waste, cleaner pond water, higher shrimp survival rate and lower farming cost. The customer achieved stable yield and better economic returns after CMC formulation optimization.
